India’s Ishan Kishan shone on his County Championship debut for Nottinghamshire in a Division 1 match against Yorkshire in Nottingham on Sunday.
Coming in at No. 6, Kishan scored an unbeaten 44 off 53 balls (6×4) as Nottinghamshire ended the day on 298/6.
The 26-year-old wicket-keeper batter signed for Nottinghamshire on a short-term deal to play two matches.
Kishan replaced Kyle Verreynne, who will be away on national duty for South Africa in a two-Test series against Zimbabwe later this month.
Another County debutant Tilak Varma bowled two overs of spin (2-0-6-0) for Hampshire as it reduced Essex to 292/8.
England pacer Jofra Archer, who is playing a red ball game for the first time since 2021, struck 31 off 34 balls for Sussex against Durham.
Archer could be in the mix for the second Test against India beginning on July 2.
“If he comes through the match unscathed, he could be in the mix to play in the second Test against India at Edgbaston,” said a report in Sky Sports.
