A social media influencer has sparked a global debate about safety after a viral video showcasing the security of Dubai. An Instagram influencer named Leylafshonkar conducted a daring experiment to test the city’s reputation for safety. Reportedly, the clip was from Dubai’s bustling Satwa Street, renowned for its restaurants and apparel shops. In the clip, the influencer, dressed in a brown vest top and black shorts, strategically placed a gold necklace and earrings on the hood of a parked blue BMW on a busy street.
She then retreated to a nearby jewellery shop to observe the reactions of passersby. To her surprise, despite the high foot traffic, no one attempted to take the valuable jewellery. The video also captured a woman picking up and placing the earring back on the car when it fell on the ground. Leylafshonkar expresses her disbelief, saying, “It’s been half an hour and no one has touched this gold. And tell me Dubai is not the safest country in the world. This is crazy. It’s crazy.” The post’s caption read, “The happiest national day my UAE.”

While many praised Dubai’s safety and security, a few questioned the authenticity of the stunt, and others drew comparisons to other countries, particularly India, where such an act might have led to a different outcome.
