The report said that four betting platforms like Parimach, Stake, 1x Bet and Battery Bet got 1.6 billion visits in just three months between October and December 2024. During this period, the visit of social media platforms like Facebook, Meta and Telegram on these four platforms was 42.8 million. It was also said in the report, it comes from traffic paid advertising. Such as Facebook ad network, promoted content, marketing, social media, etc.

Talking to CNBC-TV, Arvind Gupta, founder of Digital India Foundation, said that most of these betting apps are used to invest in many illegal activities such as for campaigning abroad or money laundering etc. He further said, people in India many times fall prey to fraud on such a site. The report blamed social media platforms for advertising such illegal betting and gambling platforms. It was also said that taking money for such advertisements should be banned.
