Chinmay Das Arrest : Tension seems to be increasing between India and Bangladesh over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of Sanatan Jagran Manch and former head of ISKCON Chittagong in Bangladesh. On Monday (25 November) at 4.30 pm, Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Chinmay Das at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on charges of treason. Tension has increased in Bangladesh since his arrest.
The arrest of Chinmay Das was also criticized. At the same time, India also expressed its objection to the arrest of Das and demanded from the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of all minorities including Hindus. Bangladesh had objected to this reaction of India. At the same time, Nahid Islam, Information and Broadcasting Advisor in the interim government of Bangladesh, has also called India’s reaction as unfair interference.

Naheed Islam was the main face of the student movement in Bangladesh, which brought down the government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Nahid Islam was also appointed as Information and Broadcasting Advisor in the interim government of Bangladesh.

Objecting to India’s response to the arrest of Chinmay Das, Nahid Islam said, ‘We believe that such statements are inappropriate interference. It seems as if India wants to worsen the situation further. India should pay attention to the rights and security of its minority community. He further said, ‘We urge India to act responsibly and not pay attention to the false propaganda of Awami League.’
India gave this reaction to the arrest of Chinmay Das
Expressed concern by issuing a statement on Tuesday (26 November), the next day after the arrest of Chinmay Das on Monday (25 November). Issuing a statement, India had said, ‘It is unfortunate that treason charges are being filed against a Hindu priest who raised legitimate demands through peaceful meetings rather than criminals targeting Hindu minorities. We also express concern over the attacks on Hindu minorities who were peacefully protesting against the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das. We urge the Bangladesh authorities to ensure the safety of Hindus and all minorities.
