Employment in Digital Economy: Many questions are raised regarding the continuous expansion of the digital economy in India. Sometimes it is said to swallow jobs. There have been many such reports recently at the global level, which show that a lot of jobs are going to be lost in the banking sector due to AI. But the latest report of the IT Ministry of the Government of India is telling something else. According to this, by 2020, the share of digital economy in India’s national income will be bigger than agriculture and manufacturing. Even one-fifth of the national income will be from the digital economy.
Digital economy will be twice as fast as the overall economy
According to this report of the Electronics and IT Ministry, by 2029-30, the speed of India’s digital economy will be twice as fast as the overall economy. In the Estimation and Measurement of India’s Digital Economy released on January 22, the value addition and employment generation potential of the digital economy has been assessed for the first time. For a few days, the maximum growth is going to be due to the development of the economy through digital platforms. After this, a large part of the output due to digitalization of the rest of the economy is included in this development story. Gradually, the share of digital technology based information and communication technology in the digital economy will reduce.
Digital economy alone is providing two and a half percent employment

There is a possibility of further increase in it in the coming days. Currently one crore 46 lakh people are getting employment in this sector. However, agriculture sector generates 45.8 percent employment and manufacturing generates 11.4 percent employment.
