Indians in County Championship: Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma score fifties

Indian batters Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma continued their good form in the English County Championship as they scored fifties in their respective matches on Tuesday.

Kishan, representing Nottinghamshire, scored 77 from 128 balls against Somerset, as he helped his claim the first-innings lead.

The wicket-keeper batter scored eight fours and two sixes before being dismissed by English spinner Jack Leach.

Tilak’s fifty, a patient 171-ball 56, wasn’t enough for Hampshire to prevent a follow-on against Worcestershire as the side was bowled out for 221.

The left-handed batter’s innings was cut short after he was run-out by opposition skipper Jake Libby.

Tilak remained unbeaten on 20 in the second essay, with Hampshire struggling at 86 for three at Stumps.

Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed claimed a big wicket for Essex against Yorkshire as he nabbed Jonny Bairstow. But that was the only wicket of the day for the left-arm quick.
