
Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for Northamptonshire on Day 1 of the current round of County Championship, taking four wickets against Derbyshire.
Chahal removed Luis Reece, Harry Came, Brooke Guest, and Zak Chappel to finish with figures of 4-116 from 30 overs. No other bowler was able to pick more than one wicket as Derbyshire closed the day on a total of 348/8.
R. Sai Kishore also made an impact with the ball for Surrey in his second appearance for the side against Durham. The left-arm spinner removed Ollie Robinson and Dutch international Bas de Leede to finish with figures of 2-26 from 12 overs.
Sai Kishore’s efforts were crucial in helping Surrey to shoot out Durham for just 153.
Tilak Varma’s Hampshire was also in action against Worcestershire, although the southpaw was not required with the bat on a rain-affected Day 1.
Openers Joe Weatherley (62) and Fletcha Middleton (79) made runs with the bat, and though both fell right before the day ended, Hampshire sent out a nightwatchman to see itself to 146/2 at the close of play.
