An Indian woman quit YouTube after dedicating three years to building her food channels. Nalini Unagar invested lakhs in setting up a studio, buying equipment, and stocking up on kitchen accessories. However, she didn’t get the response she has hoped for. Announcing her decision to step away from the platform, Unagar has listed her studio equipment and kitchen setup for sale on X (formerly Twitter).

“I failed in my YouTube career, so I’m selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know,” Unagar wrote in a heartfelt post on X, accompanied by pictures of her kitchen setup..

In a follow-up post, she admitted she received no returns despite spending Rs 8 lakh over three years. “Let me confess today—I have invested approximately ₹8 lakhs in my YouTube channel for building a kitchen, buying studio equipment, and promotions. The return? ₹0.”

Despite receiving overwhelming support urging her not to quit, Unagar explained her decision to step away. “I’m overwhelmed by your suggestion not to quit YouTube,” she further said.

Unagar further explained, “Let me remind you—I dedicated 3 years to YouTube, creating over 250 videos. However, I didn’t get the response I had hoped for, so I’ve finally decided to stop making videos and have deleted all my content from the platform.”

Reflecting on her experience, she added, “Online platforms require a bit of luck too, so it’s wise not to rely on them as a primary source of income. Your ‘shop’ can shut down before you even wake up the next day.”

Nalini managed two YouTube channels: “Nalini’s Kitchen Recipe” and “Food Facts By Nalini.” While her recipe channel had just over 2,400 subscribers, her food facts channel boasted more than 11,000 subscribers. However, she has now deleted all the content from both channels.

“I’m honestly angry with YouTube. I spent my money, time, and even risked my career to build my channel, but in return, YouTube gave me nothing. It feels like the platform favors certain channels and specific types of videos, leaving others with no recognition despite the hard work,” she wrote in a separate post, explaining her decision to step away.
