An Indian woman living in the US faced heavy criticism on social media after she shared a video preparing food for the entire week in one go.
Instagram user Madhavi, a working mom and content creator based in Boston, has over 25,000 followers. She regularly shares vegetarian recipes, gardening tips, and homemaking advice.
In her latest video, she showed how she cooks food for seven days in just over an hour. Her goal was to help students, busy professionals, new mothers, or anyone who wants healthy meals but lacks the time, especially in the US, where household help isn’t as common as in India.
In the video, Madhavi cooked a range of vegetarian dishes like palak roti, paneer kathi roll, dal fry, aloo gobhi, and vegetable lasagna. The food was meant to be refrigerated and reheated as needed.

Despite her good intentions, Madhavi received a flood of hate-filled comments. Some called her “lazy” for batch-cooking, while others criticised her for not making fresh meals daily.
A few even claimed that frozen food is unhealthy and against Ayurvedic principles, ignoring the fact that the two were not the same.
The negativity got so overwhelming that Madhavi eventually turned off the comments on her post.
While many trolled her, others spoke in her defence.
Krish Ashok, author of Masala Lab and a popular Instagram creator with over a million followers, publicly supported her, which helped the video gain wider attention. Meanwhile, Reddit users also came to Madhavi’s defence, standing up to the critics.
A user on Reddit pointed out, saying, “Especially as someone who lives abroad, I know what a privilege it is to have home-cooked food and having house help for it. Meal prep is the only option when you’re managing everything alone!” pointed out one Reddit user.
Another said, “What’s funny is most commenters are men who probably don’t even know where the kitchen is. And some hateful women who are just waiting to be picked by these men.”
“Everyone who wants fresh food, please go and learn to make your OWN FOOD. YouTube is your paradise,” an individual wrote.
“Every working woman I know does this because cooking is seen as their job, despite them paying the bills too. Maybe if they help their women in the kitchen, they’d get fresh meals every day,” read one comment.
In another case, a video of Indian-origin mom Shubhangi Jagota using a child leash for her 3.5-year-old son during a New York City trip sparked debate online.
In the Instagram clip, her toddler is seen moving freely while safely connected to his dad in Times Square. Jagota, who lives in Canada, explained that the leash was for safety, not control, allowing her curious son to explore without danger. She used a longer leash in open areas and a shorter one in crowds.
While some praised her practical approach, others criticized it as bad parenting, leading to mixed reactions across the internet.
