An Indian vlogger, who was on a trip to Russia, allegedly faced a racist remark from a local while travelling on a train. The 26-year-old, however, chose not to remain silent. Instead, he confronted the individual, calling out the “racist joke”. The vlogger even posted a video of himself shutting down the troll, with many supporting him for his bold response. Some couldn’t understand why the comment was considered racist, arguing that such incidents do happen in reality in the country at times.

The 53-second-long video was uploaded to his YouTube channel, On Road Indian. It carries the caption: “Racist Joke on India in Russia.” In the video, the YouTuber, who is an IIT dropout, states, “India is now a bigger economy than Russia,” and then asks a fellow passenger to translate his words it for the man who made the offensive remark.
He then elaborates on the exchange, revealing that his comment was a rebuttal to a Russian man who made a derogatory remark about Indians traveling by sitting atop trains.
Towards the end of the video, he says, “That man shouldn’t have said such things. It’s wrong to make racist comments about anyone. He asked me if I was from India. I said yes. Then he said, ‘People in your country travel on top of trains.’ After saying that, he walked away. When he made the comment, people around us laughed. This is not okay….”

“Your answer is too good,” said an individual.
Another added, “At least India has now points to counter the argument.”
“Bro, you earned all of our respect,” expressed a third.
A fourth commented, “Hats off for standing against racism.”
Some couldn’t understand what made the comment racist in the first place.
“What makes it racist? We have made great progress over the last few years and we should be proud of it. However the GDP being bigger than Russia is not a metric to be proud of. Indian per capita GDP is still just one sixth of Russia,” posted a fifth.

Another joined, “Of course it’s hurts too much we should defend our selves but what they said is still true we are still a developing nation 2/3 of our population is middle class or lower income class. Many of us still litter public places.”
“What are you even doing? There is a difference in being patriotic and being blind. India does have lot of short comings and what they said used to be true, idk if it still is. We need to accept what we are and where lack instead of getting offended. Russia has always supported India and has played a major role in our growth. Stop making a fuss everywhere,” wrote yet another Internet user.
