An Indian engineering student, Saloni Choudhary, went viral after she gave a tour of her university dormitory in Shenzhen, China, offering a glimpse of the student life in the country. Choudhary said the dorm was “super cute, cozy and perfect for student life”.
“I live in Shenzhen and the dorm is for three people,” she said in her YouTube video. “My roommates are from Singapore and Cambodia.” Choudhary also showed her dorm room to the viewers, complete with a study desk, storage shelves, a balcony with a grand view and a comfortable bed.
“I’m studying here on a fully funded scholarship, which means I don’t have to worry about tuition fees, dorm expenses, or most other costs — such a blessing for international students!” she said in the caption of the post, although she has to pay for electricity.
Choudhary’s dorm is located on the 17th floor of the building, and students have to use their ID cards or facial recognition to access the area. She also provided a glimpse of the common bathroom and the laundry space, where students can use the washing machines for free.
Her video left social media users surprised. “So much difference in Indian Dorms & Chinese Dorms… I mean look at the cleanliness, privacy, open environment, free stuffs like printing machine ,the washing machine facility, washroom facility. The one Thing I personally loved was the neatness and cleanliness,” one user commented.
“Your dorm looks straight out of cdrama , pretty and quite realistic , have a good and safe time in china (sic),” another person wrote. “Wooo your dormitory is so cool! It seriously feels like I’m visiting the girls’ dorm from one of my favorite Chinese dramas,” a third person replied.
“The amount of stuff and facilities you ppl get free of cost ( maybe included in somewhere else ) is amazing,” a netizen commented.
