The US has implemented an additional 25 percent tariff on India over the import of oil and gas from Russia, after which the relations between India and the US have been seeing a decline and tension. Meanwhile, Indian-origin American expert Farid Zakaria has held Donald Trump responsible for the ongoing decline in India-US relations. Zakaria said that President Trump has completely destroyed the careful efforts made by his previous governments for decades, which were strengthening the relationship between New Delhi and Washington.

During his program on CNN, Zakaria stressed that imposing the biggest tariff ever on India as well as strengthening its relationship with Pakistan, Trump 2.0’s biggest mistake of foreign policy and their move has already been damaged.

Zakaria said, ‘Even though Trump changes its stand now, the loss has already been done because India will never forget that America has finally shown its real face. It is absolutely incredible that America does not fail to behave hard with its friends. In such a situation, India will now feel that it will have to keep its interests safe, it will also have to stay close to Russia and improve its relations with China as well.
