India U-19 squad for Australia tour announced: Ayush Mhatre named captain; full list of players


Ayush Mhatre will lead the Indian Under-19 team on its multi-format tour of Australia, which begins on September 21.

India will play three one-day matches and two multi-day matches against the Australian U-19 side.

The team, under the leadership of Mhatre, is coming off a successful tour of England, where it won the Youth ODI series 3-2, before the two-match Test series ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

While Mhatre was the leading run-scorer in the Tests across both teams, amassing 340 runs in four innings with the help of two hundreds and a fifty, 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi dominated the charts in the ODI series, scoring 355 runs and registering the fastest known century in the history of Youth ODIs.

Mhatre’s deputy, Vihaan Malhotra, impressed in both formats on the tour to England, tallying 243 and 277 runs in the ODI and Test series, respectively, at a healthy average.
