India evacuated 75 citizens from Syria, will return home via Lebanon, know updates


Syria Civil War: India evacuated 75 Indian citizens from Syria on Tuesday (December 10), two days after rebel forces ousted the government of Bashar al-Assad. The Ministry of External Affairs said that after assessing the security situation, the Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut coordinated the evacuation process.

The statement issued late night said, "The Indian government today evacuated 75 Indian citizens from Syria following the recent developments." It said, "Those evacuated include 44 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir, who were stranded in Saeeda Zainab. All Indian nationals have reached Lebanon safely and will return to India by available commercial flights." 

Foreign Ministry said this

The Ministry of External Affairs said that the government gives top priority to the safety of Indian citizens living abroad. He said, "Indian citizens living in Syria are advised to keep in touch with the Indian Embassy in Damascus." The Ministry of External Affairs said, "The government will continue to monitor the situation closely."

Chaotic and unstable situation in Syria

At the same time, UN humanitarian workers described the situation in Syria as chaotic and unstable and said that more than 16 million people in the country need help. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday that from November 28 to December 8, one million people were displaced from their homes in the west and north-west alone."text-align: justify;">The office said the recently displaced people mainly included women and children from Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Idlib provinces. Rebel groups announced amnesty for soldiers

Syrian rebel groups have announced amnesty for all military personnel recruited for mandatory service. In a statement, the military operations department of the rebel group announced, “We grant amnesty to all military personnel under compulsory service.” They are guaranteed protection, and any form of aggression against them is prohibited.
