Shubman Gill continued his rich vein of form and broke another batting record during day four of the second Test between India and England in Birmingham.
Gill went past Virat Kohli to record the most runs in a series in an Indian in their debut series as captain. Kohli had scored 449 runs against Australia in 2014/15 when he took over the charge from MS Dhoni.
The 25-year-old Gill crossed the mark on Friday as he notched up a half century in the second innings.
Gill had scored 269 runs in the first innings, the highest by an Indian captain, and when he crossed 25 in the second, he broke Kohli’s record of highest match aggregate by an Indian skipper.
