India beat England by 336 runs in the second Test in Birmingham on Sunday to register its biggest win away from home.
The side’s previous best margin (in terms of runs) was 317 runs which it managed against West Indies at North Sound in 2019. Across all Tests, the win over England was India’s fourth-best.
For England, this was its second-worst defeat margin at the hands of India, with the 434-run loss in Rajkot in 2024 being the worst.
The Ben Stokes-led England has now lost all three games where it needed to chase 500 or more in the final innings. Two of these three defeats came against India.
Shubman Gill also led India to its first win at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The team had been winless at the venue in eight previous attempts across 58 years.
