In a startling video from Florida, USA, an Uber driver is seen yanking out a revolver and yelling at passengers to “get out.” In the video, which Miami rapper Krissy Celess, also known as Bomb Ass Krissy, posted online, she and a friend argue with the Uber driver about directions, which swiftly turns into a heated altercation.
Krissy Celess allegedly instructed the Uber driver on which turn to take, which sparked the confrontation. But when the rapper remarked on the driver’s behaviour, things went awry and became a passenger’s worst nightmare. The shocking incident reportedly took place late Monday (May 12).
In the widely shared video, the driver is seen screaming at Krissy Celess and her friend to “get out of my vehicle now” while simultaneously dialling 911. “You’re no longer on the ride,” she said. “Get out,” the driver shouted again. The driver then pulls out her gun when Krissy remarks about her “crazy eyes.”
Currently, the rapper has turned off the viral video’s comment section. An NDTV report, however, claims that Krissy Celess and her friend will probably sue Uber for the incident.
“I just never expected anything like this to happen,” Krissy Celess told WSVN. She described how quickly things got out of hand. “It just escalated so quickly. I was focused on the gun,” she added.
“I would argue that the Uber driver was extremely aggressive, and the reaction of pulling a gun was extremely excessive,” Carlos Dominguez, the lawyer for both passengers, stated as quoted by NDTV.
Underscoring how “simple disagreements do not necessitate a firearm,” Dominguez elaborated: “You know, emotions can sometimes get out of control because of a simple disagreement, but those disagreements do not necessitate a firearm to be pointed at you.”
This is how Uber reacted.
Meanwhile, Uber responded to the now-viral footage by calling it “concerning,” according to NDTV. “This is concerning, and we’re so sorry this happened,” said Uber.
Since drivers are expressly prohibited from carrying firearms under Uber’s policies, the ride-hailing company has removed the driver from its network. In addition, Uber stated that it is cooperating with the Hollywood Police Department in the matter.
