Subhash Chandra Bose had chosen the subject of history in this examination. In this examination he got 2281 marks out of 6000. His hard work and internal motivation made him successful in this examination. However, after this success, instead of accepting the job of ICS, Bose showed his loyalty towards the Indian freedom struggle and gave priority to the struggle against British rule.

Contribution to Indian freedom struggle

Subhash Chandra Bose left the job of Indian Civil Services because he had to fight for the independence of his country. He believed that independence would come not only by getting freedom from British rule, but by making the Indian people aware and making them stand up for their rights. In 1939 he resigned as President of the Indian National Congress and founded the Indian National Army (INA), an armed movement against British rule.
