What was supposed to be a simple grocery run quickly turned into one of the most talked-about moments on social media. A woman’s attempt to outsmart a cashier over the weight of some bananas turned into a hilarious face-off that no one saw coming.
The short clip, now making waves on Instagram, has left viewers both divided and entertained at the same time. Some are calling it a case of “instant karma,” while others are still trying to wrap their heads around the bizarre exchange that unfolded at the checkout counter.
The Banana Dilemma
The video begins with a woman peeling the skin off several bananas right at the billing counter. The cashier and the customers couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
“What are you doing, Ma’am?” the cashier asks her, to which she replies, “Oh! I don’t want the peels, I just want the bananas.”
He then says, “You don’t peel the bananas,” but the woman continues anyway while explaining that she doesn’t see the point in paying for the extra weight.
“I don’t want them, then what’s the point of paying for them. They cost too much because they weigh heavier,” she says. Someone in the queue can be seen recording the entire scene on their phone.
The Cashier’s Unexpected Response
As the woman finishes peeling, the cashier decides to take a stand, and his response leaves everyone stunned. He picks up a carton of eggs, cracks each one open and drops the yolks into a plastic bag. He keeps the empty shells aside.
Completely taken aback, the woman exclaims, “But I don’t like them scrambled!” The situation escalates when she throws one of the banana peels at him, and then the cashier throws an egg back in her direction. It is unclear from the video whether it actually hits her.
The caption posted with the video read, “When she peeled the bananas before weighing them… he said ‘say less’ and cracked the eggs right on her bags! Karma came fast at the grocery store!”

Since being shared online, the clip has gathered more than two million views and continues to draw hilarious reactions.
A user commented, “This is real comedy,” while another couldn’t resist the wordplay and said, “He went bananas.”

A few users also tried to justify the woman’s logic with an individual writing, “Technically, she’s right. The peel is only for shelf life, whereas the eggshells can be used as a calcium supplement,” one pointed out.
“Bananas and eggs are not sold the same. It would make a difference the way she wants to buy them, but no sense in doing that to the eggs as they will still go for the same price with or without the shell,” read another comment.
