An IIT Bombay alumnus has revealed that he became a multi-millionaire without following the so-called “ideal” success habits. Aman Goel, CEO of GreyLabs AI, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), said he didn’t subscribe to general habits propagated as essential for success: waking up early, reading books or taking cold showers.
Goel said he wakes up at 8:30 AM or even 9 AM and prefers knowledge intake via social media and podcasts rather than reading. He emphasised that there was no need to blindly follow habits for success and that one should take effective steps towards adding value to customers.
He shared three easy steps to become an entrepreneur: build something valuable, sell it to customers and repeat as necessary until your financial goals are met. He explained that success was all about the action and delivery of values rather than sticking to some ideal routines. Goel’s claims have received a mixed response online, gathering more than 60,000 views and both praise and criticism.
Coming out to address the backlash, Goel explained he did not mean to demean the goodness of good habits but rather to challenge the idea that they were prerequisites to success. He instead encouraged people to adopt routines that actually mean something to their personal lives, not those that would give in to the fear of missing out (FOMO) created by hustle culture influencers.
I don’t wake up at 5 AM. I don’t take cold showers. I don’t read books. I don’t follow the “ideal habits” that people claim are essential to becoming a millionaire.Yet, here I am—a multi-millionaire in my 20s.
– I wake up at 8:30 AM, sometimes even 9 AM. I sleep for 8 hours…
