An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, who previously held the position of product manager at Amazon, abandoned his corporate job to pursue his love of music. His journey has now been the subject of a viral post. After graduating from IIM Ahmedabad and working as a product manager at Amazon, Anil Jangid decided to pursue a career in singing instead of a stable job. In a touching LinkedIn post, his friend Shravan Tickoo revealed his story, inspiring online admirers. He gave a brief explanation of his motivation for writing about Jangid at the beginning of the post.

“This is the story of my dear friend Anil Jangid. I met him a few years ago when he was working at Amazon. He had a strong academic and professional background, NITK, IIM Ahmedabad, and a well-paying job — but he also had something more: a drive to create,” he wrote in his lengthy post.

Tickoo claims that Jangid often discussed starting businesses or engaging in “unconventional” but worthwhile activities. Even though he was at the height of his career, he eventually left his position at Amazon to pursue a startup concept.

Tickoo said that for a time, they lost contact. A year later, Jangid sent a startling update. “He sent me a photo. He looked like a model. I asked what he’d been up to. He told me he had gone through a phase of deep reflection and realised that what he truly loved was writing,” Tickoo recollected.

Jangid’s passion for writing inspired him to write a song and then another. He informed Tickoo that he was now focusing on music full-time and forwarded one of his recordings.

“I asked him, ‘Did you record this as a hobby?’ he replied, saying, ‘No bhai, I’m trying to become a singer.’ That stunned me. He’d walked away from everything to chase a dream many only talk about,” Tickoo further added in his post.

Though he decided to view Jangid’s action as inspirational, Tickoo noted in his post that many might view it as reckless or even irrational. “We all dream of being artists or creators, and Anil dared to do it,” he claimed.

A quote from Apple’s famous advertisement marked the post’s conclusion. “People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who actually do,” Tickoo ended his post.

Shared a few days ago, the post has garnered over 1,000 likes and several comments. The journey was described as bold and honest by other LinkedIn users, who also commended Jangid’s bravery.

A user said, “Anil’s courage to follow his passion is a reminder for all of us to embrace our true selves.”

Another commented, “I’m not an expert to judge it, but when I heard the song, it was really awesome. Such an inspiration.”

“Wow. This is amazing,” an individual wrote on LinkedIn.

“Respect! Courage like this deserves loud applause,” another user remarked.

The story of Anil Jangid is about choosing a life that feels right, not just about leaving a job.
