The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will take office on July 7, 2025, becoming the seventh person to hold the position.
Gupta, who previously served as Head of Sports at Disney Star, replaces Geoff Allardice, who announced his decision to step down this January. Allardice joined the ICC in 2012 as General Manager of Cricket after serving as Cricket Operations Manager at Cricket Australia. He was named acting CEO in March 2021 and formally appointed to the role in November that year.
“It is a privilege to have this opportunity, especially at a time when cricket is poised for unprecedented growth,” said Gupta. “These are exciting times for the sport as marquee events grow in stature, commercial avenues widen and opportunities such as the women’s game scale in popularity.”
Commenting on the appointment, ICC chairman Jay Shah said, “Sanjog brings extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialisation, which will be invaluable for the ICC. His deep understanding of the global sports as well as the M&E landscape… will prove essential in our ambition to grow the game.”
Gupta takes over at a time of major developments in world cricket, including the sport’s inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and increasing technological integration across the game.
