IAS Officer ‘Spams Mailing List’ Of Top B-School Alumni Over Zomato Spillage Issue – News18

A top business school’s whole alumni list was allegedly emailed by an IAS officer over a Zomato spill.

Due to a Zomato glitch, an IAS officer emailed the top business school’s alumni list.

A senior Zomato executive’s contact information was allegedly requested by an IAS officer via email to the full alumni list of a prestigious business school regarding a Zomato spillage issue. On X, a screenshot of the email has reportedly gone viral and divided opinions. The screenshot was initially shared by the X account, which claims that the IAS officer is an alumnus of the business management school. The IAS officer’s name was blurred out by the X user when sharing the screenshot. The post has been deleted from the social media site now.

As per Hindustan Times, the X account chastised the bureaucrat for repeatedly requesting the contact information of a top Zomato management via the alumni mailing list. “If you wondered how our IAS officers work, this dude after his B-School joins IAS only to spam the mailing list with the most wahiyat (nonsense) concerns,” the X user captioned his post.

The IAS officer wrote an email explaining that a family member in Gurgaon had a spillage issue when placing an order on Zomato, as per reports. Nevertheless, Zomato and the restaurant from which they placed their order declined to take accountability for the event.

“I need the contact details of a senior Zomato manager responsible for delivery and restaurant listings,” in his email, the IAS officer allegedly wrote.

“This is regarding my family member’s recent order from Chicago Pizza in Gurgaon via Zomato, where the soft drinks were spilled due to poor packaging. Both the Zomato chat support and the restaurant owner refused to take responsibility, instead shifting the blame to the delivery boy,” the IAS officer further stated in the mail.

“Despite the evident packaging issue, the restaurant denied any fault and even stated, ‘If you want to complain about us to Zomato, go ahead’,” the official’s note also allegedly added.

The email reportedly turned out to be divisive on X, with some people arguing that an IAS officer utilising the means available to him to handle a complaint was perfectly acceptable. But some referred to it as a misuse of authority.

A user wrote, “If he can mail this to his batch, imagine the kind of mail he’ll be writing to his staff there!”

Another said, “Bureaucracy yields power in democracy because they are neither answerable nor elected.”

Other users came out in support.

“So? What is wrong with it? It’s good that he is on it. You spend money for services, it isn’t for free. I thank him for doing this because he can get things right for even other customers,” a user on X commented.

“Bahut shi kiya, these delivery apps have started to suck lately, they will keep shifting responsibility and god forbid you have to talk to their customer care. It always goes to some automated voice and this might be most wahiyat concern for you but this is surely most wahiyat customer service,” a person agreeing with the above user added.
