After years of no contact, the user turned to Reddit for support and guidance in locating their father. What followed played out like the plot of a film: nearly two decades later, they finally reunited, thanks to the power of the online community.
In an emotional Reddit post titled “Looking for My Father – He Worked at Poornima Travels, Majestic, Bengaluru in 1998. Any Leads Would Mean the World to Me”, the user shared that their father originally hailed from Kerala and would now be around 45 to 50 years old.
The user revealed they had lost contact with their father in early childhood. “My parents separated when I was just 2 years old, and I’ve never had the chance to know him,” read the post, which triggered a flurry of reactions, including suggestions.
Offering a thoughtful idea, one of the Redditors wrote: “Did you try writing them an email through their customer care ID? That could eventually make its way to the owner or someone who has access to the relevant information.”
“Please make sure you factor in all possible information you can provide so the likelihood of it reaching someone dropping the request internally due to a lack thereof is minimal,” the person continued.
Just two days later, Reddit delivered. The original user found his dad and entire family. In an update, he shared, “My dad cried when he heard my voice. I found out that he never remarried. He is currently working in Chennai and hasn’t been to Kerala for the past four years.”
Expressing gratitude to the online community, the Reddit user shared that their reunion was an emotional moment, and he managed to connect with them due to the platform. “It was such an emotional moment, and I’m incredibly grateful – I got the information through Reddit,” he concluded.
