Finding a job can be tedious because it often involves a repetitive process of applying to numerous positions, attending multiple interviews, and navigating a competitive market. And after landing a job we tend to stay on for a couple of months or years for career growth and stability. But a woman who claimed to be constantly looking for work admitted that she couldn’t even last ten minutes after finding one after months of applying to several places.
According to news.com.au, the 32-year-old quit her job at the daycare centre because she was unable to deal with the “screaming babies.” “I left because I’d never done children before, and I was in a room with 10 screaming babies, and I just couldn’t do it,” Sophie Ward told the outlet that she ran away so fast that she forgot to bring her Tupperware, which contained her daily meal, leaving her “fuming” for the day.
Sophie Ward is originally from the United Kingdom and has been documenting her adventures across Australia.
According to the outlet, many people were perplexed by the woman’s decision. One of them enquired, “What was so horrible in 10 minutes?” Another expressed sympathy by stating that parenting is not for the “faint-hearted.”
Explaining her ordeal on how she was hunting for a job, Sophie Ward told the outlet that she had been “rejected” by several supermarket stores on multiple occasions. When she handed her resumes to retail establishments, the outcome was the same. She went to three interviews, but after a few rounds, she was “ghosted,” she claimed.
“I even went for an interview the other day, and they asked me to text them my schedule for a trial, and they never got back to me,” Sophie Ward added. At that point, she decided to try her hand at childcare. But based on her quick departure, it was clear that she wasn’t up to par.
Sophie Ward also stated that it had been “tough” to find the proper job in Australia. Being desperate, she clarified, does not imply that she is “willing to accept anything.”
