In a time when metro cities are often rated by their skylines, nightlife, or weather, a young techie is reminding the world of something far more enduring – human warmth. With a heartfelt LinkedIn post, a graduate of NIT Raipur, Siddhant Gupta, who is currently based in Hyderabad, has struck an emotional chord online. After spending two years in the city, the techie opened up about what makes Hyderabad different from India’s other tech hubs like Bengaluru, Pune, or Gurgaon.
While admitting that Hyderabad doesn’t offer Bengaluru’s breezy evenings, Pune’s picturesque treks, or Gurgaon’s glittering nightlife, the software developer argues that the city makes up for it with something irreplaceable—its people.
“Here, no one embarrasses you for not speaking Telugu. No one shames you for not knowing the local slang. When you step into Hyderabad, you’re not asked, “Where are you from?” You’re simply welcomed with a smile, maybe even a plate of Hyderabadi biryani,” he wrote.
He then shared his everyday encounters in the city. Siddhant added, “The auto guy might not speak English, but he’ll still go the extra mile to drop you safely. The chai wala may not know your language, but he’ll serve you that cup of Irani chai with a nod that says, “You’re one of us.” In a city where cultures blend silently, respect speaks louder than any tongue. Hyderabad is not just about the world’s best biryani.”
His post concluded with a simple truth, “Hyderabad may not have the ‘buzz’ of other metros. But it has heart. And sometimes, that’s all that matters,” the user said.
The post has since gone viral, garnering thousands of reactions and comments from viewers who echoed the same sentiments.
An individual commented, “Hyderabad has one thing going for it – it is Hyderabad – it is not Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru… It is Hyderabad – and THAT is what matters!”
“I started my career in Hyderabad. I can relate to each point mentioned above. Hyderabad of 2013 was not very developed but one of the best cities to live in,” read a comment.
An account remarked, “Yep, I enjoy the place. If you can get up early enough to go out to run in the early mornings, Hyderabad is awesome with peaceful roads.”
“I had a similar experience 2 years in Hyderabad… There could not have been a better place for my first job. Amazing memories being there” said a user.
A LinkedIn user stated, “I agree. Being Hyderabadi by birth, I am proud and humbled at the same time reading this post. Hope nothing of this will change in the times to come.”
Siddhant’s post is a reminder that the true spirit of a city sometimes lies in its kindness, culture, and people.
