Hyderabad Cricket Association appoints Ombudsman and Ethics Officer

At the adjourned Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Saturday, former Chief Justice (retd.) Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice (retd.) K.C. Bhanu were unanimously appointed as the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer, respectively.

Both have been appointed for one year, though there is a provision to extend their tenures for up to three years, subject to approval at the AGM.

The meeting went off without a hitch, after only the 173 cricket clubs/members qualified by Justice L. Nageswara Rao were permitted to attend the AGM. As many as 57 clubs, which were debarred due to conflict of interest and nepotism, were excluded from the meeting.

Meanwhile, a small protest under the banner of the Telangana Cricket Joint Action Committee, demanding wider regional representation in the HCA, took place outside the stadium, which was swiftly dealt with by the police.
