A 44-year-old Florida man, Joe, broke into a random house to avoid his wife after a fight. He was found by police cooking dinner and was arrested.
The man informed the police that he had no idea who was the owner of the house.
A 44-year-old Florida man broke into a random house and lived there for several days because he did not wish to go back to his home after fighting with his wife.
The husband decided to stay in a random house with no past connections to avoid his angry wife, as per the officials.
A neighbour rang up Polk County sheriff’s deputies in Davenport and called them to the home to check who had gatecrashed the property.
The neighbour had been given the task of keeping an eye on the residence when the owner was away. After noticing some suspicious activities on June 9, the neighbour decided to report to the police, as per the release from the department.
When the police entered the house, the man, identified as Joe, was found cooking dinner after having a luxurious bath.
“We assume the bath temperature was not too hot, nor too cold, but juuuuust right,” joked Polk County officials while drawing reference from the story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”
The man accepted that he had no permission to stay in the house and had no idea who the owner of the property was, said the police release.
“Not only did he not have permission to be there, he also had no idea who owned the house,” the man told the sheriff’s office.
The 44-year-old man tried to justify his actions by claiming that he had gotten into a fight with his wife four days before and decided to enter the random house and live there, so as to avoid the wrath of his wife, who was living in his home.
“(He) told deputies that he had gotten in a fight with his wife, and he didn’t want to go home, so he chose to (enter) someone else’s home instead,” stated the sheriff’s office.
Even though the husband gave his excuse, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanour petit theft, felony unarmed burglary and domestic battery.
