To become an interpreter, it is necessary to do a diploma or certificate course in foreign languages. There are some major institutions for this in India- Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the School of Foreign Language (SFL), coming under the Ministry of Defense. Training in French, German, Russian or Chinese languages ​​can be taken from here.

These courses range from 6 months to 2 years and their fees can range from about 25 thousand to 1 lakh rupees. Apart from this, branches of foreign institutions like Alliance Française (French), Max Mueller Bhavan (German) and Instituto Cervantes (Spanish) also offer courses in India.

If you are an IFS officer, then according to the 7th Pay Commission, the initial salary is around Rs 56,100 per month. But on posting abroad, you get special foreign allowance. As your experience and position increases, your salary reaches 1.5 lakh to 2.25 lakh rupees per month. Apart from this, the government also bears the government facilities like free housing, vehicle, security, medical facility and education of children.
