US presidential swearing-in ceremonies are not only important in political history, but are also major events from a financial perspective. As with every new president, these ceremonies are remembered for their special style and expense.

According to CNBC reports, the organizers spent 17 million dollars (147 crore rupees) in Bill Clinton’s first swearing-in (1993). At the same time, in his second swearing-in in 1997, about 33 million dollars (285 crores) were spent through private donations. This was the first ceremony which was broadcast live on the internet.

About $40 million (346 crore) was spent on corporate funding for the first inauguration of George W Bush (2001). His second swearing-in in 2005 cost $42.3 million (₹365 crore), according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

Barack Obama created history by taking the oath of office as President in 2009. His swearing-in committee had spent 53 million dollars (458 crores). By his second swearing-in in 2013, this amount had come down to $43 million (372 crores), in which AT&T and Microsoft made major contributions.

62 million dollars (536 crores) were spent in the swearing-in of Joe Biden. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the political turmoil of January 6, the ceremony was held with a limited crowd.

Donald Trump’s first inauguration was the most expensive inauguration in US history, with $106 million (Rs 917 crore) spent, the biggest contribution of which was made by casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.

According to CNBC reports, Donald Trump’s second swearing-in ceremony will be the most expensive ceremony in American history. Trump’s team is spending more than 200 million dollars (1 thousand 173 crores) for this ceremony.
