Aishwarya Rai and Bobby Deol’s 1997 film Aur Pyar Ho Gaya tanked at the box office. The film that marked the Bollywood debut of Aishwarya was expected to impress audiences, however, it turned out to be super flop for its poor storyline and the special effects in the climax. Now, a throwback scene from the 1997 Bollywood film has gone viral on Instagram for all the wrong reasons.

Nearly three decades later, the clip from the film’s final scene has sparked a wave of memes, jokes and puzzled reactions for its unintentionally hilarious climax sequence.

What’s the viral video about?

The viral video shows Bobby Deol dramatically running on a runway, yelling for Aishwarya’s character to stop. This all occurred while a plane was heading forward to take off.

What was meant to be an emotionally intense moment is now being ridiculed for its comically bad VFX. Social media users have flooded the comments section with sarcastic praise and questions like, “How did this pass post-production?”

Soon enough, the internet community flooded the comments section of the post with their rib-tickling reactions.

“Effects were made on Microsoft Paint,” read a comment.

Another said, “Producer, director, BGM composer, actor, actress… no one said anything when they watched this during post-production????”

“I appreciate that police ran faster than Bobby, who himself ran faster than Air India,” wrote a user.

An individual stated, “I can’t decide what is more hilarious… The scene, the BGM, the logic and the most underrated effects.”

“Movie budget… Rs.50 crores, special effects budget… Rs.50,” said a user.

Bobby Deol was too unhappy with the special effects

According to a report by DNA, Bobby Deol himself was highly disappointed with the final result of the scene. The actor revealed that he had filmed the sequence while running on an empty runway, the airplane was digitally added later. He was allegedly angry at how bad the special effects in the film were and expressed frustration, stating, “Bollywood is 20 years behind Hollywood in special effects.”

Starring Bobby Deol, Shammi Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya was a blend of romance, comedy and drama. The film, directed by Rahul Rawail, depicts the love story of Ashi Kapoor and Bobby Oberoi. Though both families approve their love, things take a turn when some personal problems crop up between Ashi’s dad, Kailashnath, and Bobby’s bank manager mother, Gayetri, forcing Kailashnath to cancel the marriage, which changes their lives forever.
