How Bengaluru’s pet cafes enable moments of joy, affection, and quiet companionship

In a city like Bengaluru, which is always on the move, peace often arrives in unexpected places. Amid the traffic, deadlines, and digital noise, some residents are finding comfort and peace in cosy, pet cafés that offer moments of joy, affection, and quiet companionship. Though none of these cafés are formal therapy centres, the emotional shifts they enable are real. They create safe, accessible spaces for healing — one belly rub and tail wag at a time.

Here are some of them

At Snoopy Paws Café in Kannuru, Lawrence M, a dog lover and entrepreneur, has created a space that is equal parts rescue home and hangout. “We have 10 to 15 dogs, all rescued or adopted. Many of our visitors are people who can’t keep pets. They come here to feel better,” he says.

Some bring children who are initially afraid of dogs. Others are stressed-out professionals looking for a break from the grind. Over time, the café has grown into a gentle space for emotional relief. “You see them smile, relax, even talk more. You don’t need a therapist to notice that shift,” Lawrence adds.

Therapup, a popular dog café with locations in Sarjapur and Whitefield, extends its mission beyond its walls — into office cubicles and boardrooms. Through their Supercharge Program, therapy dogs are taken into corporate spaces for an unusual but effective team reset. “We bring in five to six dogs, and within 30 minutes, the vibe shifts. People laugh and hug. It works,” says the café’s manager, Anuj Soni. “You see a room full of relaxed and happy employees.”

Tucked off Sarjapur Road in Mullur, Wille’s Pet Paradise is more than a café — it is a recovery zone for both dogs and their humans. With off-leash yards, grooming services, and plenty of space to roam, dogs here gradually rebuild trust and confidence. “Parents would often tell us they felt sad seeing their pets withdrawn,” adds Rahul Alfred Wilson, assistant manager. “Watching them open up, and even make friends is healing.”

Wag & Wine

Tucked away in Valagere Kallahalli, Wag & Wine, which is built inside the lush, green campus of the pet resort PetCart Nest, is envisioned as more than just a dog-friendly spot. Here, pet parents sip wine or coffee while their companions munch on pupcakes and popsicles or cool off after a swim.

With leash-free play areas, agility setups, and a resident gang of seven dogs and a cat, it has become a community hub for everything from pet birthdays and adoption meetups to work-from-café days.

“We see it every day — children opening up while feeding a gentle dog, tired professionals leaving lighter after an hour of fetch, or book lovers just enjoying the quiet presence of animals,” says Shekhar S Gaonkar, the founder of Wag and Wine.

The café also quietly supports emotional wellness. One regular visitor, a child with autism, found comfort interacting weekly with the animals. Others come seeking moments of stillness — with nature, with animals, and with themselves. “In a fast-paced, often overcrowded city, Wag & Wine is a reminder that wellness doesn’t need a label. No therapy rooms, no prescriptions — just sunshine, fur, trees, and laughter,” Shekhar adds.

Wag & Wine is located at Survey No. 136/18, Valagere Kallahalli, Sarjapur Main Road, Bengaluru, Karnataka 562125. Call 97909 41617
