Team India has embarked on a tour of Australia for the high-profile Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first Test of the five-match series began on Friday, November 22, at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The Indian batting unit featuring several young talents made a disastrous start to their first innings. Fans certainly felt the pressure when the visitors went four down at the score of just 47 runs. An Indian content creator could relate to the feelings as he tried to imitate the reaction of Indian supporters in a humorous way.
The Pune-based influencer, Shantanu Dhumal, dropped a video on Instagram where he could be seen venting out his frustration about India’s batting collapse in Perth. Donning an India jersey, Dhumal was captured calling the customer support of Disney+ Hotstar– the official streaming partner of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy.
In a sarcastic rant, Dhumal, representing Indian cricket fans, was heard asking Hotstar to cancel his subscription. “Hello, am I calling to the Hotstar office? I mistakenly took a three-month subscription at 5:30 AM in the morning. Can it be cancelled for a refund? If not, then please block my account because I think I won’t be able to watch this game anymore.”
The official Instagram handle of Dinesy+ Hotstar responded to the post and quipped, “We won’t take it personally, but Bumrah did.” Many Indian fans found the reactions quite relatable while some highlighted how Australia faced a similar collapse on Day 1 of the Perth Test.
Following those early dismissals, Rishabh Pant and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy made some valuable contributions to revive India’s innings. Pant scored 37 off 78 balls while Reddy played a commendable 41-run knock in his maiden Test innings. India were ultimately bundled out for 150 runs.
When Australia came out to bat, Jasprit Bumrah stole the show, breathing fire on the bouncy track of Perth. The Indian skipper, assisted by Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj, ripped through the opposition’s top order. The Aussies ended up losing six wickets at 47 runs. The hosts wrapped up their innings with 104 runs. India will begin their second innings with a crucial 46-run lead.
