A video showing the aftermath of a deadly crash in Dehradun was widely shared on social media before being taken down by X (formerly Twitter) for violating its content-sharing policies. The footage, which showed horrific scenes of body parts scattered on the road, was deemed “gratuitous gore” and taken down for being extremely disturbing.

The tragic accident occurred on November 12 near ONGC Chowk and left six students dead and one critically injured. The crash took place around 1:30 AM when a group of friends in a newly purchased Innova rammed into a container truck. The car with advanced safety features was reduced to a mangled wreck and the impact killed six of the seven passengers on the spot. All victims were under the age of 25 and preliminary investigation revealed that the truck driver was not at fault.

According to reports, the group was allegedly racing with a BMW when the driver tried to overtake it, at over 100 km/h. As he tried to pass, the Innova collided with the rear of a dumper truck. As per PTI, the deceased were identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20) and Guneet (19). The lone survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), is in critical condition at Synergy Hospital in Dehradun.

The video of the crash’s aftermath was initially posted by a user named Chauhan on X. The user later shared a screenshot of the request he received from X which read, “Violating our rules against posting media depicting gratuitous gore. You may not share excessively graphic media (e.g., severe injuries, torture). Exposure to gratuitous gore can be harmful, especially if the content is posted with intent to delight in cruelty or for sadistic pleasure.”

After removing the video, Chauhan apologised in a follow-up post stating that it was shared for “information purposes” and that he forgot to add a trigger warning or blur sensitive parts.

“This video is only for information purposes, I don’t claim this video, even though I got the video from X/Twitter only & sorry to all I didn’t remember to add the trigger warning and I also forgot to blur the video parts where sensitive things are shown,” Chauhan wrote.

Despite this, Chauhan had posted another video of the crash’s aftermath which has not been removed by X yet.

Reports further claim that the car involved in the accident was owned by Sunil Agarwal, a firecracker businessman from Saharanpur, who had bought it only a few days earlier during the Dhanteras festival. His son, Atul, had taken the car to Dehradun with six friends and was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
