US Tariffs on Movies: Ever since US President Donald Trump has taken power for the second time, everyone has been surprised by each of his decisions. After the announcement of a huge tariff on imported goods from other countries last month i.e. April 2, he has now targeted the film world. He has announced to put 100 percent tariff on films made out of America. This decision of President Trump is seeing heavy anger among the people.
Trump announced 100 percent tariff on films made out of America and said that he has taken this step to save the US film industry.
He said in one of his posts on social media- Filmmakers of other countries are being offered various offers to shoot in America while Hollywood is on the verge of ruin. He termed the reason for this, a well -planned conspiracy of other countries and said that it is also a threat to national security.
100% tariff on films in other countries
Trump further said that he gives the rights to the Department of Commerce and the US trade representative to put 100 percent tariffs on all the films being made from other countries in the US. He said that he wants films to be made again in America. After this, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote on social media X that they are working on it.
However, it is not clear to whom the tariff will be imposed, will it be on the film making company or the actor or the film producer. Trump has taken a step at a time when China said about a month ago on the other side of the trade war that broke the world between two economic superpower.
