A shocking hit-and-run incident on the Defence Colony–Lajpat Nagar flyover in Delhi has sparked outrage online. A reckless driver in a Swift car crashed into an auto and nearly hit a scooty before speeding away. A commuter who witnessed the entire incident shared dashcam footage on Reddit, where it quickly gained attention.
The post, titled “Witnessed this today,” shows the car approaching fast from behind, hitting the auto and causing it to overturn at the corner of the flyover. The scooty, which was narrowly missed, quickly moved away to avoid being hit. The Reddit user later clarified in the comments that the car did touch the scooty, although it’s hard to confirm from the video.
Describing the incident, the commuter wrote, “This happened earlier today near the Defence Colony–Lajpat Nagar flyover. The Swift was rash driving like crazy, it was almost gonna hit us but instead hit a scooty and an auto, and just took off without stopping.”
The user also shared his frustration with the driver’s actions: “Got the whole thing on dashcam. I mean how reckless can people be and have no empathy for other human lives and don’t even think of the consequences even once.”

The video was posted on July 6 and has received over 700 upvotes.
Many viewers on Reddit expressed anger and demanded that the video be shared with the Delhi authorities via X (formerly Twitter). “Please use Twitter and tag the concerned authorities. Don’t forget to attach this video. This should be reported, thank god you were there and recorded this,” a user urged.
Another added, “Scooty driver had a good reaction, sped immediately to save themselves, unlike many who freeze in such situations or can’t react in time.”
Others highlighted the broader issue of widespread reckless driving and the lack of strict law enforcement in India. “Sad thing, even if the law is made strict like this, our corrupt system will use it to harass genuine people, while reckless drivers like him will bypass through bribes,” an individual said.
Another noted, “Such driving is common in India, that’s why maximum no people are killed on the road in the world, hardly any conviction for reckless driving.”
The video has reignited public concern over road safety and the need for stronger rules and accountability.
