In a startling incident from Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, a man bitten by a snake managed to catch the reptile and bring it to the hospital for treatment. The drama unfolded in the emergency room of Chamba Medical College, where chaos erupted as the man entered carrying the snake.
The victim, identified as Ramesh Kumar, a retired soldier from the Mahla area of Chamba, recounted his experience to the doctors, who were initially sceptical. It was only when Kumar produced the envelope containing the snake that the gravity of the situation was realised.
Doctors promptly administered an anti-venom injection and admitted Kumar to the hospital. His condition is now reported to be stable.
Speaking to the media, Kumar explained that he has extensive experience in handling snakes and has frequently captured and released various species safely back into the forest. A couple of days prior, while attempting to capture a snake, he was bitten.
Recognising the danger, he decided to bring the snake to the hospital to ensure the doctors could identify the species and administer the correct anti-venom. Doctors confirmed that the precise identification of the snake facilitated the timely and effective treatment that ultimately saved Kumar’s life.
