South Korea’s capital, Seoul, witnessed a horrifying incident as a motorcyclist vanished into a sinkhole and died after 18 hours.

Accidents are horrifying, and recently, a shocking video from South Korea has surfaced on the internet, featuring a bike vanishing into a sinkhole. The terrifying accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist18 hours after the incident. The video from South Korea’s capital, Seoul, features a car in front of the bike narrowly escaping the nightmarish fate. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist wasn’t so lucky as he fell directly into the giant sinkhole, abruptly in the middle of the road. However, it’s unclear at the moment what caused the sinkhole.
According to The Chosun Daily, the biker, identified as Park, is shown speeding into the unexpected sinkhole in a dashcam video taken by another vehicle. A car bounced and missed the hole just in front of him. The Korea Times reported that shortly after the incident, a search team was sent out. Authorities discovered a cell phone at 1:37 am during the overnight search.
A fire official at Gangdong Ward revealed the cause of the biker’s death, saying, “The man, in his 30s, was found in a state of cardiac arrest at 11:22 am,” reported The Korea Times.
The search group found the motorcycle approximately two hours later. The distance from the sinkhole was roughly 30 meters. Since the rider was nowhere to be found at that moment, the authorities started up again the next morning. Nearly 18 hours after he fell into the 20-meter-wide and 20-meter-deep sinkhole, he was discovered in a state of cardiac arrest.

According to The Korea Times, the incident happened close to an elementary school in Gangdong Ward. Four local schools were closed after the incident due to safety concerns. Water and gas supplies in the area have also been shut off.
A Seoul Metropolitan Government official explained the situation and actions that are now being taken after the horrifying accident. “We are not ruling out a connection to the subway construction. We will need to conduct a detailed assessment before we can determine the exact cause,” he told The Chosun Daily.
