Indian weddings are renowned for their grandeur, deep-rooted traditions, and lively celebrations. However, like any large event, they often come with unforeseen moments. These surprises can range from light-hearted incidents to emotional moments and sometimes even unfortunate events that disrupt the otherwise joyous atmosphere. A wedding celebration in Dholpur, Rajasthan, took a similar unexpected turn when the bride refused to leave with the groom’s family.
Wedding Drama in Dholpur
Deepika, daughter of Girish Kumar from Dholpur’s Housing Board Colony, was set to marry Pradeep, a resident of Kalyani village in Karauli district. The wedding ceremony was a grand affair, with festivities continuing throughout the night.
However, during the farewell ceremony the next morning, Deepika refused to accompany her new husband, expressing concerns about his health. She revealed that his hands had trembled while he was applying Sindoor (vermilion) on her forehead, leading her to believe he might be suffering from a serious illness.
Pradeep attempted to alleviate her fears, explaining that his trembling hands were due to the cold weather. He emphasised that her family had met him numerous times before the wedding without raising any concerns. However, Deepika remained unconvinced and stood firm in her decision to call off the marriage.
Police Intervention
The bride’s refusal ignited chaos, sparking heated arguments between both families. With the situation escalating, the police were called to intervene. Despite their attempts to mediate, no resolution could be reached. Ultimately, the groom’s family had to return without the bride.
Aftermath
Pradeep, a contract teacher in a government school, and Deepika, a BA and B.Ed graduate who recently took the REET exam, are now left to deal with the aftermath of their broken marriage. The incident has become a hot topic of discussion in the region, highlighting the complexities that can arise even in seemingly joyous occasions.
