Israel Hamas Conflict: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday (March 30, 2025) that Israel’s military pressure on Hamas has been effective in Gaza. He emphasized that Palestinian Group should lay down their weapons. Netanyahu said in the cabinet meeting that talks are being held amidst pressure, yet Hamas will have to put his arms.
During the meeting, he said, “We are talking amidst pressure. We can see that cracks have started coming in the demand that the group has made in its conversation. We are ready. Hamas will have to be inserted. His leaders will be allowed to go from Gaza.” Netanyahu’s remarks have come at a time when countries like Egypt, Qatar and the United States have continued efforts to ensure the release of the Israeli hostages who were still hostage in Gaza.
What did Hamas say?
A senior Hamas official said on Saturday (March 29, 2025) that the group has approved the new ceasefire proposal on behalf of the mediators and urged Israel to support it. Netanyahu’s office confirmed the proposal to receive and said that Israel has presented a reward.
‘Hamas will have to lay off’
On Sunday, Netanyahu dismissed the claim that Israel is not interested in discussing such an agreement so that the release of the hostages in Gaza can still be ensured, but he emphasized that Hamas would have to hand over his weapons.
The ceasefire had maintained peace in the Gaza Strip for several weeks but it broke on 18 March when Israel started air -bombing and ground attacks in the Palestinian region. The Regional Civil Protection Agency said that at least eight people were killed in the Israeli air strike in the Khan Younis area of Gaza on Sunday, including five children.
