India handed over a crushing defeat to Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy clash on Sunday, sealing its spot in the semis while placing the defending champions on the verge of a knockout.
Pakistan was officially knocked out of the tournament after Bangladesh, on whom the Men in Green were banking for a miracle, was defeated by New Zealand on Monday.
Faryal Waqar Goes Viral
Amid a variety of videos surfacing on social media, showing disappointed Pakistani fans, the video of a girl, Faryal Waqar, smiling and hiding her displeasure has gone viral.
Her expressions reminded the netizens of Hindi film actress Deepika Padukone.
“Indian and Pakistani social media have been buzzing over Faryal Waqar, a Pakistan cricket fan, whose beauty and innocence has sparked comparisons to some of the most beloved and glamorous stars in Indian entertainment – @deepikapadukone @kriti.kharbanda @realpz – with many even saying she outshines them all! Guess Who??!” the post caption said.
Faryal expressed her disappointment over the team’s performance against India and said that she had come to support the team but had been left saddened after watching the show put up by the Rizwan-led side.
“Pakistan is getting knocked out of the Champions Trophy, so we are sad about it. The heart is saddened. I’m speechless. What right has the team done tonight? We came to support Pakistan with full enthusiasm even after our first loss. Just do better, if we continue performing like this, I doubt if we can win even against Bangladesh. I work in a university, and am a counselor,” she said in a video.
