
Reuters X Account Blocked in India: On Saturday (July 5, 2025), the official X (first Twitter) account of International News Agency Reuters was blocked in India. However, no official information has been revealed by the government or agency regarding this blocking, but many users have shared a post on social media on this issue.
From late Saturday evening, the X handle of reuters was not being accessed in India. On the handle, the message of Reuters has been withheld in in response to a legal demand (this handle has been stopped in India in response to legal demand) was visible. Shortly after this, the X account of Reuters World also blocked in India. However, the clear reason behind the blocking has not been revealed.
Which accounts did not affect?
Other X accounts like Reuters Tech News, Reuters Fact Check, Reuters Pictures, Reuters Asia and Reuters China are still available in India and can be accessed in India. There has been a debate on social media. Some people are calling it an essential step in terms of security and information control of the country, while some are considering it to stop freedom of expression.
What do X guidelines say?
According to X’s guidelines, any handle or content can be blocked on the basis of local laws and valid legal demand (eg court order). This report is filed through special support channels.
These channels were also banned
After the British News Agency Reuters (Reuters), the X (first Twitter) accounts of Turkish government channel TRT World and China’s official newspaper Global Times have been blocked in India. At present, no official reason has been given by the Government of India.
