Girisha Choudhary created history in the last attempt, failed in prelims several times… even got panic attack

It is said that if one tries to achieve any goal with hard work, patience, confidence and precise strategy, then success is definitely achieved. Girisha Chaudhary, daughter of Karnal, Haryana has proved this to be true. He did not give up even after failing not once, twice but four times in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Neither stopped working hard to achieve his goal nor changed his decision. The result was that in the end he got success. Girisha Chaudhary secured 263rd rank in UPSC exam in the year 2023. Let’s know his success story…

Girisha’s family came from Pakistan

Girisha’s grandfather came to India from Pakistan during the India-Pakistan partition in 1947. He supported his family by working as a laborer, driving a rickshaw and selling ice cream. He retired as a Patwari. Girisha’s father was a manager in Punjab National Bank and his mother also worked in the bank.

Girisha wanted to become a journalist

Girisha’s early education took place in Karnal only. While completing 12th, Girisha got a chance to go to an orphanage. Seeing the destitute and helpless children in the ashram, Girisha dreamed of becoming a journalist, so that he could become their voice. However, no one supported him in this decision. He took admission in Computer Science B.Tech from General College.

This is how the journey of UPSC started

After completing college, Girisha got a job in EY company. Despite the big salary and good lifestyle, Girisha started missing something in life. After much thought he decided to prepare for UPSC. Many people called his decision wrong, but Girisha did not listen to anyone.

Repeated failures

Girisha gave his first attempt of UPSC in 2018, but missed his prelims paper by 20 marks. In 2019, Girisha gave the paper again and this time she failed by just 1.5 marks. When it was time to give her next attempt in 2020, Girisha was tensed. She couldn’t sleep the night before the paper. Girisha started fearing failure and his paper got spoiled this time too.

Had a panic attack before the paper

Girisha was confident that after passing the prelims, she would easily crack the mains. In such a situation, Girisha once again left everything and started preparing for the prelims of 2021. A day before the paper he had a panic attack. After lying unconscious the whole night, Girisha called her father in the morning and mustered up the courage to go for the exam, but this time too she failed.

Passed prelims in fifth attempt

It was Girisha’s fifth attempt in 2022, but this time he was not afraid. This time also Girisha did not expect that his exam would be cleared, but this time he passed the prelims exam. In 2023, Girisha took the Haryana Public Service Commission examination and passed Mains in the first attempt. This was Girisha’s last attempt in UPSC, but in the 2023 exam, Girisha passed all three stages – prelims, mains and interview. Girisha came in the UPSC list with 263 rank.
