Harvard University is known for its high standards and difficult admissions process, as it accepts only a handful of students each year. Among these students, some come from incredibly wealthy backgrounds and their spending habits are just jaw-dropping. Now, a video, shared on Instagram by a content creator, features some students talking about the most shocking rich things they’ve seen on campus. From owning a private jet to weekend outings in Europe, the video shows the lavish lifestyles of some students.
One of the students recalled, “I just feel there’s a lot. I’ve seen people pay for on-campus housing and then off-campus housing too, which is like crazy. They don’t even live here on Harvard, they live across the street.”
Another shared, “The people who go to Europe on weekends. I know the plane tickets, that’s not affordable. A couple of people, I’ve also met have last names that the buildings have here.”
A woman shared the story about students flying on their dad’s private jet instead of a regular airline. Another person mentioned seeing someone posting a selfie from a private jet before class and then attending class later that night, which they found interesting. A student talked about spotting someone wearing three expensive Cartier love bracelets on one arm, which is worth $7350 (approximately Rs 6 lakh).
Other stories were equally bizarre, including students who “have houses everywhere. So I know someone was like, ‘I need to work on a project. Let me go to my beach house on the Cape.’ That’s not something I can do.”
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Bro hunted out the kids on scholarship to interview.”
Another wondered, “Why would they pay for double rent?”
“So gossip girl was not that unrealistic after all,” a comment read.
Another mentioned, “If you notice them doing things like this, they’re not super rich. The really, really rich kids act like normal people. Then you find out years later that this regular brown kid is heir to the throne of his country or something.”
An individual observed, “So the pressure is everywhere, but the pressure at Harvard sounds like a whole other level.”
One more added, “Some of them have legacy admissions even though they don’t deserve it but because their family names are on some building.”
Since the video was shared on Instagram, it has garnered 4.6 million views.
