In an unexpected moment of misfortune, a flight attendant was struck in the head by a closing car boot. The woman was loading her luggage in the trunk of the car at Changi Airport Terminal 3 in Singapore when its door hit her head. The incident that reportedly took place on February 19 at around 8:27 PM was caught on camera. The clip has now gone viral on social media, leaving users amused and concerned.
The video shared by a user on Facebook showed the flight attendant keeping her bags in the boot of a car, presumably a private hire vehicle. Next, the car’s driver stepped in to assist her as she placed her belongings into the boot. After keeping the bags, the driver attempted to shut the boot, but the flight attendant unexpectedly leaned in at the moment. Unaware of this, the boot swung down with force, striking her on the head.
The visibly concerned driver immediately rushed to her, holding her hand as she clutched her head in pain. The driver stood by her side until she recovered from the shock and pain. Moments later, the woman appeared to be feeling better and sat in the car. Thereafter, the driver carefully closed the boot and moved ahead.
The video quickly went viral on social media, evoking a variety of responses. A majority of users sympathised with the woman, while others hailed the driver for waiting and taking care of her post the hit. Some amused fans also compared it to a sitcom, and some suggested the driver should have checked before closing the boot.
A user said, “And that’s how I met your mother.” Another stated, “Miss stewardess. Not the overhead compartment, Watchout!”
“All he needed to do was to check before closing. What if there was a kid with an arm reached out?” questioned a user.
An individual wrote, “That’s the reason why some drivers don’t want to help with the loading of bags.”
“She put her head back. So was her fault. The driver did check and saw her head has moved away already,” echoed a few.
An account remarked, Hope she is okay. As for the driver, he is so kind to wait and see after the incident. He is not at fault.”
“Lucky the video showed everything. If not, that air stewardess might lodge a complaint to the company and with no evidence, the taxi driver will be blamed for being reckless.” read a comment.
