ENG-W vs IND-W: What happened last time India faced England in a T20I series?

India and England are set to face off in a five-match T20I series, with the opener scheduled at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Saturday.

The last time the Women in Blue played England in a T20I series was in December 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The visitor emerged victorious 2-1.

England, led by Heather Knight, secured a convincing 38-run win in the first match, with Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scoring, and Sophie Ecclestone starring with the ball by taking three wickets.

In the second game, England’s bowlers dominated, bundling India out for just 80 runs before chasing down the target with four wickets in hand to seal the series.

India avoided a clean sweep with a five-wicket win in the final match. Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque claimed three wickets each to restrict England to 126, while Smriti Mandhana’s 48 laid the foundation for a successful chase.

India and England did not meet during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, making this their first contest in any format in over 18 months.
