ENG vs IND: Harry Brook becomes first batter to be dismissed on 99 since 2022


Harry Brook became the first batter in three years to be dismissed while batting on 99 during Day 3 of the first Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley on Sunday.

The last batter to be dismissed one short of the hundred-run mark was Australian Travis Head against the West Indies at Perth in 2022.

The previous instance of an English batter being dismissed for the unfortunate score was Jonny Bairstow against South Africa in Manchester in 2017.

Overall, this is the 16th instance of an Englishman falling on 99. Former middle-order batter Ian Bell is the only Englishman to be dismissed on 199.

The last batter to be dismissed on 99 against India was Shaun Marsh in Melbourne in 2014.
