ENG vs IND, 2nd Test: Jofra Archer misses England training due to family emergency


England Men’s fast bowler Jofra Archer will not be joining the England Test squad for training session at Edgbaston on Monday due to a family emergency.

Archer is expected to rejoin the squad tomorrow, Tuesday, ahead of the second Test, which begins on Wednesday against India. His absence today is understood to be for personal reasons and is not related to any injury concerns. The England management has not provided further details regarding the nature of the family emergency, requesting privacy for Archer at this time.

Earlier, England added the 30-year-old pacer to its squad for the second Test set to be played at Edgbaston starting on Wednesday, July 2.

Archer returns to the Test setup after a gap of four years. The 30-year-old last played a Test in February 2021, also against India.

So far, he has played 13 matches for England.

Last week, Archer made his first appearance in a First-Class match in four years in the County Championship for Sussex against Durham.

England second Test squad:

Ben Stokes, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer.
