Indians across the country and even abroad celebrated the auspicious festival of Karwa Chauth on Sunday, October 20. On this day, women observe fasts for their husbands’ long and healthy lives and break them the evening after the moon sighting. While the festival holds great prominence for married couples, nowadays unmarried girls also keep fasts for their partners or fiancés. Amid the festivities, an unconventional Karwa Chauth video of an elderly man observing the fast for former adult star Mia Khalifa caught the internet’s attention.
Shared widely across social media platforms, the video has ignited a variety of reactions, with some even finding his gimmick “creepy.” In the clip, the man is seen on the terrace, holding the traditional thali with a sieve (channi) and an earthen lamp. A photograph of Khalifa was pinned to the wall, right next to him. As the video plays, the man indulges in the usual ritual, watching the moon through the channi and then panning to the picture of Mia Khalifa.
While some have found humour in the content, others expressed strong disapproval. A user wrote, “So funny.”
