Christopher Nolan is well-known for using IMAX technology and he followed this with his last film, Oppenheimer, which starred Cillian Murphy. This had a major impact on Dwayne Johnson. Inspired by the stunning IMAX experience, the actor considered releasing his upcoming Christmas film, Red One, in the same format. Before the movie hit theatres, the actor stated how watching Oppenheimer compelled him to shoot Red One on IMAX midway. As the actor shared his ambitious outlook, netizens were quite surprised and called him “delusional” for comparing the films.
Ahead of the release of Red One, a statement mentioned, “I was midway through shooting Red One, I had an opportunity to go watch Oppenheimer, and I watched it in the IMAX theatre, where Christopher Nolan watches and screens his movies. I even asked, ‘Let me sit where Chris is sitting.’ So I sat where Chris sat, I watched Oppenheimer, it was amazing.” He added that while watching the film he thought that if they used the same technology for Red One it would be a game changer. He also texted the director about the same. He mentioned, “We just had a great conversation afterwards about just how cool it’s going to be. It’s gonna be very cool.”
But not everyone was excited about Dwayne Johnson’s approach. A person noted, “Honestly laugh if you want but I aspire to have a fragment of this delusional confidence The Rock has.” Another movie buff noted, “Is it the first time someone had uttered “red one” and “Oppenheimer” within the same 4 sentences?”
He’s so obviously trolling right? I feel like the only marketing play here is to troll like this— Andrew (@ahscherer) November 13, 2024

Red One directed by Jake Kasdan, stars Dwayne Johnson along with Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu and JK Simmons in key roles. Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll and Kristofer Hivju are cast in supporting roles. The plot revolves around the North Pole, where everything is thrown into disarray after Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas of Myra or the Red One, is abducted. To save Christmas, Dwayne Johnson’s character, Callum Drift, the North Pole’s Head of Security, is assigned the responsibility of bringing Santa back. Red One was released in US theatres on November 15.
